Ron Shinault enters his first season with San Jose Earthquakes bringing 14 years of experience in from the collegiate and professional levels, most recently as the Director of Sports Medicine for the University of San Francisco from 2008-2015. While working in this position, Ron worked with the Men’s Soccer Team, served as the Head Athletic Trainer of the USL-1 California Victory professional soccer franchise, and served on the athletic training staff of the US Soccer U-15 National Team.
In addition to working with the USF Dons Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs during his tenure at USF, Ron oversaw the 15 Division I sports and the expanison of the staff from to include seven Certified Athletic Trainers for 240 student-athletes.
Prior to this position, he interned with with the New England Patriots(2000), worked as a Athletic Trainer for the Football team at Florida State University(2002-04), the Men’s Basketball program at the University of Georgia(2004-06), and at USF(2006-08) in an Assistant Athletic Trainer role before being promoted to the Director of Sports Medicine position.
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Ron is 2001 graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in Exercise and Sport Science and received his Master’s in Sports Management from Florida State in 2003. He is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and member of the National Association of Athletes Trainers (NATA) as well as serving as a mentor for the Ethnic Diversity Advisory Council. In his spare time he enjoys adventure travel and cycling.
