Sean Shahmirzadi is in his fourth season with the Santa Clara Broncos, serving as the primary medical contact for the women’s soccer team.
Sean Shahmirzadi is in his fourth season with the Santa Clara Broncos, serving as the primary medical contact for the women’s soccer team. Shahmirzadi works closely with team physicians in his role as the physician clinic coordinator. He previously spent two years at Santa Clara as a graduate assistant, responsible for the medical care and injury prevention of the women’s soccer, men’s tennis, and men’s rowing programs.
A graduate of University of Utah, Shahmirzadi was awarded an Undergraduate Research Scholar Designation Bachelor’s of Science in Athletic Training and a minor in Nutrition. During his time as a student in Salt Lake City, Sean spent one year with the University of Utah football team, along with rotations with the women’s soccer, and women’s track & field programs. During his senior year, he worked with the NCAA national runner-up Utah women’s gymnastics team.
During the 2015 Major League Soccer season, Shahmirzadi served as an Intern Athletic Trainer for the Major League Soccer team Real Salt Lake. He also functioned as the local ATC for week long training and two competition days for the USA Women’s Gymnastics 2016 Olympic Team Trials in San Jose. Shahmirzadi served as the assistant director of medical services for the 2016 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer College Cup Championships at Avaya Stadium as well as the 2017 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball West Regionals at the SAP center. Additionally, he has assisted the San Jose Earthquakes in a PRN role with coverage for their developmental academy as well as the 2018 Quakes/Reno 1868 FC college combine.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Shahmirzadi currently resides in Santa Clara. He is an avid mountain biker, snowboarder, and enjoys playing too competitively in recreational co-ed adult soccer leagues.
